Busy Week Of Golf

I am entering a very busy week of golf. I am playing six of seven days with a hickory stick tournament in Ottawa and a friendly in Renfrew with my wooden shafted clubs. This increased activity happens every year and I am enjoying the increased time on the links. Today, I am playing a match for the Open Match Play event I organized at my home course and it should be fun playing against a new opponent. With all this increased activity, I learned a long time ago to pay attention to the little things in my game to ensure I am playing my best for the week.
For more details on the upcoming hickory golf events around Ottawa this weekend, check out the details on my previous post.
First and foremost is to eat and drink properly. I realize this might be a no brainer, but maintaining my energy levels in the hot sun is important. Fortunately, I will be riding most of the week as I am playing in tournaments so that should help with my energy levels. Keeping up my energy will in turn help me to stay focused come Saturday after so much golf.
Next is to stretch a bit during the week. The extra golf will take a toll on my body as I do not normally play this much. Also, hitting hickory sticks is different because the clubs feel heavier than my modern golf clubs. This is okay, but something to be aware of when playing two days in a row with my old clubs. Also I will be doing more driving than normal and sitting for a great deal of time also makes me a bit stiff. Well, stretching will help and I will do more of it as the week goes on.
Lastly, I have to ensure I am having fun during the entire week. As I play more golf than normal, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that all of this time on the links is supposed to be fun and enjoyable. The moment I lose that perspective, I might as well pack up my clubs and head home. So, fun will be a the forefront of all my golf this week.
This is a great week for golf. I am already enjoying my time on the links and the next four days will be the very exciting as it is four days of competitive golf. I am not sure how well I will play, but I know for sure that it is going to be great fun. Playing more golf than usual is never a bad thing, it just makes me a more grateful golfer.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
