Lowering Our Golf Score

By admin Aug9,2024

There are many ways to lower our golf score. Depending on the state of our game, the approach will be different. If you are starting or on the path to play better golf, there are some fundamental tips that all golfers should know. They are not complicated and they fit all golfers at every skill level. I have discussed many different approaches of how to lower our golf score and today will not be any different. I found a video that offers ten different tips to lower our golf scores; I am sure a few will meet the needs of everyone.

This short video deals with ten different areas that will help you lower your golf score. I have a few favourites, but you will have to decide what works for you.

The video does not tell us how to lower our score, but offers areas that will pinpoint more research possibilities. The top three points that work for me are putting, course strategy and having fun. Of course the other tips are helpful, however I chose to focus on my three.

Putting is something I talk about all the time. I created a part putting series to takes you through the entire gambit of how to putt according the me, The Grateful Golfer. You can start with part 1 here. Just under half of most amateurs shots occur on the green. I know I am playing well if I can hover around 30 or less putts for a round. That is my benchmark and I work on my putting stroke in order to achieve that goal. For me, putting is the most important stroke any amateur should master.

Course strategy is a slightly more advanced skill for amateurs. Focusing on swing development is usually the first step to playing great golf. After you have developed the semblance of a consistent swing you can shift your thoughts to how to play better golf. This area of the game takes a fair bit of time to develop as it forces us not to use the ‘grip it and rip it’ strategy. Thoughts on how to play golf, where to hit our next shot, and understanding how far we hit each club are just a few areas that fall into course strategy.

I have said the last point countless times on The Grateful Golfer. Golf is a sport / activity that is meant to be enjoyed. If for some reason you feel more frustrated after a round a golf, it might be time to re-evaluate how you are playing. I will admit that sometimes I am disappointed at my result, but I always leave the course feeling like I enjoyed my time on the links.

Lowering our golf score takes many paths. The one you chose is temporary at best and should be treated as such. The multitude of approaches to lowering our golf score are only limited by our imagination. Regardless of which path you chose, I recommend that you commit to the process and have fun.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
