My Initial Thoughts Of The Final Round Of The 2024 Women’s Olympics

I finally have time to tune into Olympic golf. The final round of the 2024 Olympic golf is proving to be very interesting. The smooth swinging players are starting off quick in hopes of catching Lydia Ko at the top of the leaderboard. Canadian Brooke Henderson is six strokes back and has a tough hill to climb. Shooting 67 yesterday, she will need something around the same score or lower to have a chance to win a medal. Watching the women play, I think of their amazing golf games equate to that of many amateurs. If we decided to emulate the game of women professionals, I think most of us would play better golf.
There are two areas that I think most amateurs would benefit if they studied women’s golf. The first is tempo and balance of each swing. They seem to effortlessly hit their ball with amazing results. Their swings are long and flexible. The never seem to take a giant rip at the ball (although they do) because everything is in balance. Their swings are definitely something I covet and work at to achieve.
The second aspect of the Women’s game that I appreciate is course strategy. Hitting the ball a bit farther than me, their course management strategy would be similar. They play their shots to ensure they have an easier next shot. Not always trying to hit the ball far, they understand that position for the next shot is critical to scoring low. I appreciate their ability to manage their swings to lower the risks and improve the rewards of each shot. Watching their course management during the Olympics is very educational.
Well, I am back to watching the Women play their final round at the 2024 Olympics. Of course I am cheering for Canadian Brooke Henderson; my next favourite will be Lydia Ko from New Zealand. Regardless, it is going to be great golf to watch.
I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
