
EDN THURSDAY PREP ROUNDUP: St. Anthony boys golf finishes second at Battle at Rend Lake; Teutopolis finished fifth

Aug. 16—EFFINGHAM — Below are Thursday’s prep highlights from around the area.
BOYS GOLF
at Rend Lake Golf Complex … St. Anthony finished second in the Battle at Rend Lake with a 303. Dakota Flaig shot a 73. Jack Swingler fired a 76, and Joey Trupiano and Ryan Schmidt each carded 77s.
The two scores not counting toward the team total were Maddux Clark’s 80 and Drake Brown’s 84.
Teutopolis also competed, sending two teams. The first Wooden Shoes team finished fifth with a 328, and the second was 10th with a 354. Coen Pennington was the low individual on the first team, firing a 76. Isaac Weber shot a 79, Colin Habing shot an 86, and Brody Thoele shot an 87. Landyn Thoele’s 88 and Kade Pennington’s 92 didn’t count toward the team total.
As for the second T-Town team, Hayden Tebbe shot an 85. Andy Lustig and Nolan Schumacher each shot an 89, and Drew Hoene fired a 91. Noah Koester’s 94 and Matthew Habing’s 95 didn’t count.
Benton won the event with a 286, Breese (Mater Dei) was third with a 304, Metropolis (Massac County) finished fourth with a 324, Anna-Jonesboro was sixth with a 329, Breese (Central) was seventh with a 332, Carterville was eighth with a 346, Litchfield was ninth with a 352, Belleville (Althoff Catholic) was 11th with a 356, and Vandalia was 12th with a 400.
BOYS & GIRLS GOLF
at Oak Glen Golf Course … North Clay competed in Robinson. Riley Poe was the low individual for the boys, firing a nine-hole round of 43. Brody Adair carded a 51, Jacob Arnold a 57, and Hunter Czyzewski a 61.
Kennedy Jones was the low individual for the girls, with a 43, while Mackenzie Winterrowd shot a 62.
