Fall Golf Means Less Golf

By admin Oct1,2024

We are having a wondering fall this year. Unfortunate, the great weather has not translated into more golf. I am trying to fit in many life events, but will have a game or two left in the bag before it is all done. One thing I will organize is a hickory round with my friend Misha. He expressed interest in playing with them and how can I not make that happen. The rest of the time, I will try and hit the course a couple times over the next few weeks. When the weather is great, how can I stay home…..right?

Fall golf is always fun. Between the leaves, wet ground, and cooler temperatures, I find hitting the links a bit more challenging. It is that challenge that makes me want to play more. Unfortunately, early morning golf is really not a player. It is very cool and very wet, so mid morning to noon time is best for playing fall golf in this area.

Playing golf in the fall offers other challenges like losing our ball in the leaves, less distance off the tee, and having to clothing layers. There are many was to counter the fall issues and it does take time to build up the kit required to enjoy the late season weather. Regardless on where you live, the varying degrees of fall weather will affect your golf game.

Many golfers love playing golf in the fall. They avoid the hotter temperatures and the number of players on the course seem to dwindle. I guess it depends on where you live. Many golfers in Florida, for example, do not play golf in the summer because of the heat. Starting now and moving forward, the golf courses in southern climes fill up with many seasonal players. Not to mention the Snowbirds who head to warmer temperatures from November to April.

Fall golf can be fun. For me, it means playing less and getting ready for winter. It is all a cycle and one that I have accepted. I am not a traveler to warm temperatures in the winter, so my golf season lasts about 6 months at best. It is what it is and am still a grateful golfer.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
