⭐ Game of the Week

SACRED HEART-GRIFFIN DEF. SPRINGFIELD HIGH 25-17, 25-15: Josie Mack was dialed in at the service line.

The Sacred Heart-Griffin senior hitter delivered a string of aces during the second set and the Cyclones romped to their second straight City volleyball title with a win over rival Springfield High at Lober-Nika Gymnasium on Thursday.

Mack totaled five aces to go along with two kills. She delivered four aces in one sequence that led to a 21-11 advantage in the second set.

It was the program’s 37th City title overall and SHG (14-6, 7-0 Central State Eight Conference) remains unbeaten in the league in Hamilton’s return to the helm. Hamilton previously guided the Cyclones from 2013 until the 2021 spring season.

Senior setter Ava Hillyer dished up 16 assists, three aces and two kills. Hitters MacKenzie Payton and Macie Rolf each had six kills.
