Callaway has one of the most extensive ranges of golf equipment on the market, and back in 2023 they introduced a new type of golf club into the mix with their Apex Utility Wood. This has been updated again, with the new Callaway Apex UW 2025. It’s said to combine the easy launch of a fairway with the versatility of a hybrid.
The brand say that it is designed for serious and avid golfers. It could also be ideal for golfers who are struggling to fill that gap at the top end of the bag and want to try something different.

It’s designed with feedback from tour players, and even picked up a recent victory thanks to Alex Noren at the BMW PGA Championship. Callaway say that this time around it’s going to produce a higher, more neutral ball flight whilst retaining control.
Like we have seen in Callaway’s recent Elyte Fairways, the Apex UW features a tungsten speed wave structure.
Weighing more than 40 grams, this helps to move mass lower and further forward in the head. This is great for helping to encourage more speed and launch, especially on strikes that are low on the face.
The Apex UW also features Callaway’s Step Sole design. This has been reworked to reduce turf interaction, maintain swing speed during impact, and provide more consistency across different lies to make the club more versatile.
Callaway have included input from some of their own players when it comes to the design of the Utility Wood. This has produced a compact shape, with a neutral face angle. The idea is that is offers more confidence at address, as well as workability from different lies.
