Are You A Flipper When Chipping?

By admin May4,2024

The act of chipping is a delicate shot that requires a consistent and focused movement. When the pressure grows, many amateurs have the tendency to try and help the club loft the ball during a chip. This swing fault results in flipping the club through contact. The results are usually poor and frustration does ensue. Did you know that flipping the club is an issue regardless of your skill level. It is more subtle in the lower handicappers, however it is still there! Do you know at what stage your flipping challenges are set?

As stated earlier, flipping the club is not limited to beginners or higher handicap players. It is likely more subtle for single digit golfers, but it does arise nonetheless. Here is a way to identify where you land on the flipping scale:

I know from personal experience that flipping is a real thing. I also know after watching thousands of strokes my playing partners that flipping is a thing! Now that we know that flipping is not a mystic thing that everyone talks about, what can we do about it. I have talked about this before flipping in an article before where I used a different Chris Ryan video to help fix this challenge.

Chris Ryan offers an explanation of how to eliminate flipping from our game. It is fairly in-depth and chose it because Chris offers a simple, easy and repeatable way to fix this swing issue.

Flipping the club is a real thing. It hurts our game, confidence and overall score. This swing fault is limited to beginners, but affects every golfer. The first step is to identify that you do flip your club, then find a fix (like Chris Ryan’s) to eliminate it from your chipping game. The choice is always yours.

I am a grateful golfer! See you on the links!
