Under Armour have announced the latest models in their line of performance golf shoes with the new Drive Pro and Drive Pro SL, which promise to deliver gains in clubhead speed, ball speed and carry for the golfer.

Designed with direct feedback from Under Armour’s PGA Tour athletes, including three-time major winner Jordan Spieth, the Drive Pro is available in both spiked and spikeless models and uses a new Swing Support System to deliver great stability, traction and performance.

Under Armour have employed the expertise of world-renowned biomechanist JJ Rivet in producing this 3-layer system which supports the natural motion of the foot, with biomechanically correct diagonal and lateral support for golfers to optimise power during their swing.

The Swing Support System is made up of three key advancements:

  • From the ground up, better traction comes from new custom S3 Spikes and Tour Flex Pro Spike. The S3 Spikes are used in the medial heel and lateral forefoot at the optimal angle to resist rotation in the golf swing, making it easier to generate more power.

  • In the midsole, Under Armour have developed what they are calling the only dual-density midsole in golf, featuring Under Armour’s HOVR foam and supportive Charged Cushioning to help guide the foot in the swing. Including softer foam on the medial side allows the foot to be able to sink into the shoe when applying force, helping you to shift weight more efficiently through the ball.

  • In the upper, the Swing Support Strap is connect to the S3 Spikes and an integrated lacing system, with a 360 degree lock-in from the ball to the instep.

The spikeless Drive Pro SL uses the same innovations in the midsole and upper, but with different innovations in the spikeless outsole.

There’s a traction control plate and hybrid outsole using rubber and TPU, the Drive Pro SL provides ground penetration and torsional rigidity through TPU, whilst the rubber makes the sole more flexible and adds friction. Under Armour says that this ensures that there is no compromise in performance when moving from a spiked to a spikeless model.

“Being a golfer isn’t a traditional 9-5 job. You’re on your feet waling the course for such a long time so it’s so important to be equipped with footwear that will help your body achieve its best on the course.”

“I’m ecstatic that Under Armour has developed the Drive Pro, that combines comfort, style, and performance throughout the long days that we endure on the green. I look forward to showing first-hand the impact that Under Armour makes on the course with the release of the Drive Pro.”

The Drive Pro Shoes are available now at an RRP of £150, whilst the Drive Pro SL is £130.
